.......
Louisa Girdlestone, servant, single, 28, Cook (domestic), b. Gt Snoring, Norfolk

Hi again

I notice that the nephew Charles Hobbs gnu posted was born in Jarrow - there is a Norfolk born family of Girdlestones in Jarrow in 1891, William and Ann and there daughter Ann Cable with husband and children, who could well be related to Samuel.

Let us know what other info you are looking for

Hi Janan  :)

I was wondering about him as well as Louisa.  I wonder if Samuel came up because he'd heard from relatives that there was work in the shipyards.  (3 separate households in Jarrow/South Shields in 1891)

They seem to have expanded over Tyneside in the next 20 years or so  :)

 :)

Was your father Alfred Joseph Girdlestone, b. March q, 1905, Tynemouth?

Added - I don't see any other births for a Joseph. Did your father have another first name.

There's also a birth June q, 1922, Newcastle for a * * Girdlestone that might be him but it's getting close to the cut off date for mentioning full names.
