Star Inn Pub
« on: Thursday 05 January 12 04:21 GMT (UK) »
There was a public house called the 'Star' at the end of Pen y Ball St and start of Cross St Holywell, does any one have any info on it. I know John Williams ran it in 1833 and my great grand parents William and Mary Jones ran it around 1890. I believe they lost it when a Roger Price went bankrupt.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Wendy,

I know about the star inn at st Winifred's, it was like a pilgrim place back in the 1600 and 1700, unfortunately this is all that ever comes up on a search, yet this place did was there, I think it is now some sort of snack bar or coffee shop. I think this will be a tuff one to find out about. I think this would be a library job to find local books, I have Holywell past and present and it show the Star on 2 maps. If you find anything else out it would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for the info, born 1891 was Hannah, she died around 10wks old, 1892 is Eunice my Nain (grandmother), but Eunice is said to be born in Liverpool where her mother is from. It is strange how nothing comes up about this pub anywhere, if you find anything else it would be much appreciated.

Hi, Thanks
I don't think this is my nain, on one census it says she was born in Liverpool, as for the Star Inn I found this info as well, but I also found it in Holywell past and Present, it's in 2 maps inside but that all i have.

If you find anything else out much appreciated.
