Hi  :)
The only Benjamin Blocksidge I can find is in 1851 cenus but his wife is Sarah.
He was born in Wenlock Shrops, a coal miner.

Sorry not to be of much help.

1841 Census (transcribed as Blocksedy) - Dawley Magna, Shropshire
(ref.HO107-904-7-45-40)

Jane Blocksedy    50
Benjamin   "        15
John          "        15
Edward      "        15
Mary         "         14
William      "         14
William Harley   30
Samuel Jones    50

You've probably got the following details but noted them anyway:

The following children baptised at Dawley Magna to Benjamin and Jane -

Elizabeth bp.22/1/1815
Robert Jones bp.25/1/1818 (bur.12/11/1822)
Nancy bp.28/3/1819
Fanny bp.15/10/1820
Benjamin bp.10/3/1822
Thomas bp.13/10/1822 (??)
John bp.11/8/1824
Edward bp.11/8/1824
Mary bp.12/7/1825
William bp.26/8/1827

Benjamin Blocksidge bur.5/12/1827 - age not shown but figure he is the Benjamin Blocksig bp.25/2/1787 Dawley Magna, son of John and Elizabeth

Jane Jones bc.1789 Dawley Magna according to 1851 census and this would appear to be her baptism:

Jane Jones bp.19/7/1789 Dawley Magna, dau. of Philip and Elizabeth.

Hi
There used to be a building along court street madeley that had Blocksidge sign writing on it, the next time i am down there i will look to see if its still there.
Thomas Blocksidge were painters and decorators and moved to madeley in about 1843 from coalport Thomas had a son also called Thomas who was believed to have been a designer at the coalport china works. Blocksidge were said to have been one of the oldest family run business in madeley later in the 1800s they had some family that emigrated to america. if this looks like your family you will get more info from the madeley history group jubilee house madeley.
hope this is helps geoff.

I am also researching the Blocksidge family and have details of the Benjamin/Jane you mention. There is also a connection with the Blocksidge business in Court Street, Madeley.
