Marriage 1844 Whittlesey Ridlington to Goude
« on: Monday 09 January 12 15:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi
My great great grandparents James Ridlington and Elizabeth Goude married 1844 In Whittlesey. Would someone kindly be able to look up this marriage and give me some information regarding James occupation at the time and if it shows his father's name and occupation?

I am trying to pin down James Ridlington he was born about 1819 - 1821 and died in 1870. I can only find him in 2 censuses - 1851 he was living in Whittlesey and states place of birth Barton on Humber and 1861 (although called Riddleton) living in Peterborough and states place of birth Whittlesey. I would love to be able to go back a bit further and know where the Ridlington's came from?

Hi Jill,

The marriage took place on 4 June 1844 Whittlesey St. Mary.

Both were of full age, both made marks.  Bachelor and spinster.
James was a lab son of John, miller.  Elizabeth was daughter of Charles, lab.

Robert Ridlington, a baker, who married Elizabeth Ellwood in 1848 at Whittlesey St. Andrew was also the son of John, miller.  One of the witnesses was Sarah Ridlington.

Perhaps you could find more clues re their origins from the census if you follow
Robert.

Regards,
Selina

Thank you Selina - that is brilliant. Havent come across Robert or any other of James relatives so having a father and brothers name is a new lead. Thank you again!
