Caleb Walker- emigrated to Alberta
« on: Wednesday 11 January 12 00:17 GMT (UK) »
Hi there
Just a quick note wondering if anyone can help with ny information on a Caleb George Walker  ( born Bridgnorth, Shropshire 1883) who emigrated in the early 1900's
I understand he may have settled in Alberta and married an Emily Gertrude Piprell in Alberta in April or May 1913.
Any help or info would be much appreciated :) :) :)

Just a further note, oops...

There is an obituary notice for George Caleb Walker and Emily Georgina in the Saskatoon Star Phoenix, May 3, 1974 and May 23, 1973 respectively.  Borden is a town about 55 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon on the same highway as Lloydminster.  As mentioned in the biography Caleb came across with the Barr Colonists some only made it as near as Winnipeg or Saskatoon or Lloydminster.

If Francis/Emily are buried in the town cemetery in Borden it may be easyish to get a gravestone picture from the local town hall of Borden or Radisson (bigger town up the road).

Hope this helps,

Jeff

Hi, Caleb Walker is our great great great grandad if we have the same person..also born in Shropshire and emigrated to Canada, although I believe he came back to the UK and settled in Hinckley before passing away. I have lots of info collected, would be happy to discuss further.

My Grandfather also went over to Saskatchewan but on the same ship as Barr and Lloyd onboard the Lake Manitoba.

In the 1970’s or there about a number of colonists and their families produced written accounts of their lives and activities.  These accounts were compiled into a Book which was online at the ourroots dot ca website.  The link above is broken as the website concerned has been undertaking a major update since the original thread was started in 2012.

So it may be worth a search through the new ourroots website for information.
