Stocker is a name found in County Durham  however is it not that common. For the "Bassy" I could only find Busty, Betty, Brass and Betsy names for collieries in the 1950's. Interview your father with a recorder running and ask him about his experiences in the mines and his family, mother and father, brothers and sisters and even earlier generations. Dates and places of their births and marriages. This will help you in the future if you want to compile a family history.

Thank you for your help and now seeing the name I can confirm it was the Busty mine my grandfather worked in.
