Hannah 1819 Barton Under Needwood
« on: Wednesday 11 January 12 15:55 GMT (UK) »
Hi
I am looking for Hannah born 1819 record census in Barton Under Needwood, Staffordshire.
Her surname was Jackson, then Salt then Talbot.
I believe she lived on Blithbury Road, Hamstall Ridware, Rugeley, Staffordshire or any Servant / Maid records.

Thanks

TalbotMartin

Hello

So you're looking for Hannah Jackson b 1819 at Barton Under Needwood who married a Mr Salt then a Mr Talbot and at some point lived in Rugeley?

There's a marriage of Hannah Jackson and Isaac Salt listed under Uttoxeter (not a million miles away) in March qtr 1840.

There's a death of an Isaac Salt at nearby Burton Upon Trent in the June qtr of that year.

Then in the June qtr of 1846 Hannah Salt marries Samuel Talbot at Uttoxeter.

Do these fit with what you already know or do you have any other info?

Paul

Hi thank you for your post.
Yes to your question.
I have everything you mentioned, the only difference I have, the Isaac Salt I have died approximately 1,2 or 3 years later than yours. I believe Isaac and Hannah had two children together James Salt and Caroline Salt.
I look forward to your reply. Hannah Jackson/Salt/Talbot is my Great Great Great Grandma.

If Hannah & Isaac had two children (after their marriage) then the two Isaac Salt deaths registered in 1840 must be wrong. Equally, unless she remarried immediately after he died the 1846 Isaac Salt death at Stoke must be wrong. That leaves the Dec 1844 qtr death at Dudley as the only option which would allow time for two or more children to be born.

There are two James' births registered (at Dudley) in 1841 and Carolines at Lichfield, Burton and Birmingham in 1842/3 so any of those would fit.

Do you have the children on the 1851 census?

According to FamilySearch, the Caroline Salt registered in 1843 was christened at Holy Trinity, Burton on Trent on 16 Apr 1843 as the the child of Hannah Salt - no father mentioned.  (Caroline is listed as Talbot, "wife's daughter", born "Barton under Wood" in 1851.)

There is an Isaac Salt b. c1814 with wife Hannah listed on the 1841 census in Abbots Bromley with son James aged 6 months, but this couple can be found on later censuses - Isaac is still alive in 1891, and James is with the couple in 1851.  There is no James with the Talbot family in 1851.

Do you have the 1846 marriage cert to confirm Hannah's maiden name?

Hi

Yeah I believe the Isaac Salt I have died in 1844 in Dudley I need to double check this on my notes.

Isaac Salt and Hannah married in 1840 and had;
James Salt b 1841 abbots bromley
Caroline Salt b 1842 barton under needwood

Yeah I have children on 1851 census;---
1841 census
Isaac Salt age 27 b abbots bromley 1814 d1844
Hannah Salt age 28 b 1813 abbots bromley really should be 1819
James Salt 6 months b 1840 abbots bromley

Hannah then married Samuel Talbot in 1846 in Abbots Bromley.

1851 census
Samuel Talbot age 32 b abbots bromley 1819
Hannah Talbot age 32 b barton under needwood 1819
Caroline Talbot 8 b barton under needwood 1843
Harriet Talbot 4 b 1847 abbots bromley
Hannah Talbot 1 b 1850 abbots bromley

1861 census
Samuel Talbot age 35 widower (as Hannah Jackson/Salt/Talbot died 1857)
Carolin Talbot age 18
Hannah Talbot age 10
Arthur G Talbot age 8 b 1853 abbots bromley
Samuel Talbot age 6
Louisa Talbot age 4

According to FamilySearch, the Caroline Salt registered in 1843 was

christened at Holy Trinity, Burton on Trent on 16 Apr 1843 as the the child

of Hannah Salt - no father mentioned.  (Caroline is listed as Talbot,

"wife's daughter", born "Barton under Wood" in 1851.) --- this matches

Isaac died before 1851.

There is an Isaac Salt b. c1814 with wife Hannah listed on the 1841 census

in Abbots Bromley with son James aged 6 months, but this couple can be

found on later censuses - Isaac is still alive in 1891, and James is with the couple in 1851.  There is no James with the Talbot family in 1851.
--- I am glad you have mentioned this paragraph as I have been talking to a Michael Lowe he said he is related to a Salt family in Abbots Bromley, where a Isaac Salt married a Hannah and had a children, one of the children was called James Salt who was born similar to my "James Salt" and the
Michael's couple Isaac Salt and Hannah lived together till 1891. This family isn't part of my family. Me and Michael have exchanged a few emails to the point we believe we have two different people (James Salt's)  Michael Lowe's has a website.

I have also come across another website created by Brian A?? Who I believe I am related to.

Do you have the 1846 marriage cert to confirm Hannah's maiden name?
--- I will next week, I have asked for this thru the England census the general record office. I will inform you the details of this certificate as soon as receive the marriage certificate.

I also have two certificates.

Are you related to Salt, Talbot or Bagot, or know them?

Thank you so much for your replies, I look forward to your response.

I don't think the 1841 entry can be "your" Hannah, because it matches an 1851 entry for the same family:

HO107; Piece 2010; Folio 333; Page 8 - Ashbrook Lane, Abbots Bromley
Isaac SALT  Head  38  Farm Labourer
Hannah SALT  Wife  44
James SALT  Son  10  Scholar
Hannah SALT  Dau  8  Scholar
Isaac SALT  Son  4  Scholar
(All born Abbots Bromley.)

I can't see any other James SALT born c1841 in Abbots Bromley, and your Hannah married James TALBOT in 1846.

Which of the children is your ancestor, and what are the parent's names on his/her birth cert?

(I have no connections to the family - just trying to help!)

Thank you so much for all your messages and help.

I also believe Isaac Salt is in a completely different family.

Samuel Talbot married Hannah SALT, daughter of Thomas SALT and Hannah DAWSON, on Apr 25, 1846 in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire, England. Hannah was born in 1818 in Barton
Under Needwood, Staffordshire, England, was christened on May 31, 1818. I have their marriage certificate Hannah's maiden name is Salt. I have Caroline Salt birth certificate her Mother is Hannah Salt, noted here. Caroline Salt's Father is unknown. I have been told by my direct relation this Hannah Salt/Talbot had an affair with Earl of Shrewbury, I don't know if Caroline Salt's Father is the Earl.

Caroline Salt;Caroline SALT was born in 1843 in Barton Under Needwood, Staffordshire, was christened on Apr 16, 1843 in Burton Upon Trent.

Thank you.
