I don't think it's cheeky  :)
When I consider all the help others have given to me on here, it would be a pleasure.

It's an annual record opposed to a census but, like I said...I don't understand the abbreviations.

From 1922 liability to Jury Service was noted by J. (Juror) or S.J. (Special Juror), don't know what B.J. means, is it not S.J. ?

Mmm..it took me a minute or two to realise that searching for women wasn't going to work! ::)

I have just looked up William Markham in Lewisham in 1890 and there are numerous women "voters" listed on the page which covers parts of Boone St and Boone's Place, Lee:

Elizabeth Batty; Caroline Faulkner, Florentine Smith*, Sarah Hetton, Martha Wellings.

Can the 1890 date ascribed to these records be correct?

*Florentine Smith does indeed appear as a widow in Boone St in censuses 1881 onwards.  She may have died in Woolwich in 1916.

The Municipal Franchise Act 1869 extended the vote in local elections to women who had the necessary property qualification and who were ratepayers. This act also enabled women to serve as Poor Law Guardians. Several suffragists took this opportunity to become involved in local government.

It means they were qualified to serve on a Jury. A Special Jury was a jury whose members are selected for special knowledge for a case involving complicated issues. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/special+jury
