Ted I downloaded and saved the file and will read it later.  It does seem strange though that the aunt would claim there were no children of the marriage as birth registrations could easily be checked by the court.  I have searched the Pioneer index pretty thoroughly and can find no birth reg.  There were no legal adoptions in that era in Vic so it may have been an informal arrangement.  Perhaps the OP may know something of this.

Wonder what is on the parents' death certs however the "son" may have been the informant.

Cheers

I've read it Cando,

All 83 pages. I think he was convinced he was their son. He even gives date and place of birth.

I believe him but I cant find a birth.

Will read it again tomorrow - but I actually had a tears in my eyes. Poor guy!

Hi all,

Thank you all for the information.

To bring you all up to speed on the probate case.
It was decided in the favour of Samuel’s aunty ELIZA JANE DOW.

Samuel’s birth was not recorded out of fear of the introduction of compulsory child vaccinations, no birth record no vaccination.

As for the Hervett connection I have got some new leads from the register of Deaths for Coburg 1921.

Age at Death :: 76
Farther :: Charles Wilson
Mother :: Mary Wilson formerly Hervett
Where Bourne :: Stellice ?? Germany
Howlong in Australia :: 61 years (that makes him 15 when he arrived in Australia)

My Farther is Geoffrey William Wilson
My Grandfather is Samuel Sainsbury Wilson
My Grate Grand farther is John Charles Wilson
My Grate Grate Grandfather is Charles Wilson

Thank you all
Brian

I am a bit confused here...do you mean you purchased and downloaded Charles WILSON's death certificate from the Vic Registry of births, death and marriages.

According to his age at death, Samuel was born c1885 and it would appear 11 years after.....

1874  The Compulsory Vaccination Act in Victoria required all children to be vaccinated against smallpox within six months of birth.

It still leaves some doubt as to whether or not he was their natural born son.

We might have to dig them all up for their DNA.

So different now. I had to sign the Birth registration forms before I was allowed to go home with my 2.

Have to ask - When did we first need birth certs for identification purposes?
