Hi Margo
My e-mail is (*). I will have what I have copied and post it to you. Let me have a postal address. This will only happen in a week or two, when we get back. I am sooo excited about these contacts.
The history I have starts with the 1st generation, Diderich Bremse 1265 to 1335.
He married Gertrud Kruse. D, and his brother Reiner, are first mentioned in the records of the city of Luneburg in 1231.
Too much for me to write.
Regards
Dinky

It is Rootschat policy not to include details of living or possibly living persons as this can lead to all sorts of issues as many people do not want there info on the net for security and privacy reasons. Could I just ask if anyone posting on this thread knows whether an Emile von Broembsen (known as Sonny) is related to your Von Broembsens: the surname is very distinctive. This particular person was in Rhodesia in the late 1920s and I would love to find out more about him, if possible, as he was my grandmother's first husband.
Thanks

Hello Geordie daughter

I think that Rutti tutti can give you the best answer. What I do have is that he was born abt 1874, in Aliwal North.  He is the brother of our Mabel Sophia von Broembsen and Constance von Broembsen. Their father was Gustav Adolf Von Broembsen  who also had a brother, Herman August Von Broembsen, who also settled in South Africa.

Hummm, just googled his name and I see  that there is an interesting story someone was researching in 2007 ... was that you?

have you checked the Zimbabwe records in familysearch.com? There are a number of von Broembsen deaths listed there (no Emile though): https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1-14684-33411-24?cc=1837900&wc=7118310

Send Rutti Tutti a PM or Chrismargo, they may know more

Jenni

Jenni, thank you so much for that info. Emile has been a blank in my family tree for many years, and yes, I did try to unearth his story, but with no success. It would be good to fill in the holes.

I will certainly have a look at those records, as I'm busy ferreting through the South African section of FamilySearch for my late husband's Cutting family at the moment, anyway. I will definitely PM DHY too.

glad to help. Use this link for learning how to use the Familysearch records (a bit of tedious task but can give lots of info);

Hi there

I have just found this site and its great. Im Meghan Athlone von Broembsen, my late Grandfather was Walter von Broembsen married Heila and had 3 children, Zelda, Otelia and Walter Nicolaas von Broembsen (my late fater) I would love to find out more on the von Broembsen Family. The family tree would be amazing.
My Gran has got so much information about the von Broembsen's.

My email address is (*) please feel free to contact me. I think my Great grandfather accidentally killed himself cleaning his gun, correct me but I think he was Otto von Broembsen.

Thank you so much
Meghan
