Sure is - especially in New Zealand!
By the way - alot of the Sinnamon family (of Central Otago) are buried in the Omakau cemetary. There may have been some children attending the 'Blacks' primary school (Ophir).
Also the book by Ken Leask - "Ophir Memories" may have a story or two about the family...
**EDIT**
Yes there were some Sinnamons at Blacks school - I just found some copies I made of the old school photos, one had names attached
I will have to re-scan the photo which has Vivian and Rachel Sinnamon in it, the copy is very dark...
Here attached is another school photo, no names unfortunately. Bound to be some relations in there! Photo credit to NZ Historic places trust/Ophir Post Office archives.
Excerpt from Ophir brochure "Walk around historic Ophir"
"
Blacks School siteThe original corrugated iron school of 1867 was replaced by a stone building and an adjacent school house. Both were constructed of stone from nearby Raggedy Range in 1882. It was replaced by a new school (now a play centre) in 1956. It survived for a time but sadly was demolished in 1961 'in the interests of public safety.' Former pupils of the old school can remember the frozen ink in the ink wells on winter mornings and black currant jam sandwiched wrapped in newspaper."
I have 4 generations of family from Central Otago, namely Paerau (Styx), Poolburn (Ida Valley) and Ophir. My grandfather grew up in Ophir and would have attended the old Blacks school.
