Thomas Lynn, farmer
« on: Sunday 15 January 12 02:59 GMT (UK) »
I am looking for information on Thomas Lynn who was a
farmer in Northern Ireland in the mid 1920's

His mother was Sarah McKee who died 1925

Thomas Lynn was mentioned as the beneficiary of the will, the will was not finalized until 1932.

Thomas Lynn had brother's  Joseph and Edward.

He was possibly farming in Tyrone.

Regards
NC

His mother was Sarah McKee who died 1925
Thomas Lynn was mentioned as the beneficiary of the will, the will was not finalized until 1932.

Just to clear up some confusion- according to PRONI Will Extract there was no Will and Thomas Lynn was granted administration of Sarah's estate but does not mean he was a beneficiary of such (although since only £3 wasn't much to divide out amonst the heirs).
"Lynn Sarah of Evishanoran county Tyrone widow died 27 January 1925 Administration Londonderry 23 March to Thomas Lynn farmer. Effects £3."

Another in same townland-
"Lynn Terence of Evishanoran Pomeroy county Tyrone farmer died 16 August 1936 Administration Londonderry 9 December to reverend Joseph Aloysius Lynn clerk in Holy orders. Effects £45 10s."
1911 census- http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Killenan/Evishanoran/860519/
1901 census- http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Tyrone/Killeenan/Evishanoran/1730856/

Here's Sarah Lynn & family in 1911 census- which shows Sarah as born in England
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1911/Tyrone/Killenan/Evishanoran/860506/
and in 1901 census with husband John, etc.-

Sarah Lynn Born in England

When you said on the 1911 census Sarah Mckee was born in England I remember a birth that seemed strange to me.

Sarah McKee born 7-Jul-1846  St Mary Newcastle upon Tyne
Northumberland  Father "Thomas McKee" mother Alice Mckaune

Could McKaune and McCann be pronounced wrong.

I know Thomas Mckee and Alice McCann where married in Ireland in 25 Sep 1844 and they had other children born in
Ireland.

So what was he doing in England

Do you know the occupation of Sarah McKee's father? this might explain why the family lived in England.

All I know is Thomas Mckee was a farmer later on in Ireland he may have been a tenant farmer in Evishanoran.

He would have died between 1861-1880

Then some of the family went to Durham in England to work and then to Queensland in the 1880.

Thomas Mckee  date of death would help he would have died in Ireland.

Most farmers would have been tenants at that period. Griffith's Valuation should show both him and immediate lessor-
http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/index.xml
(Thomas McKee listed under Kildress Parish and date is 1859)

The Irish civil registration index is online (from 1864 for deaths) and will give you the details needed to order a death certificate- www.familysearch.org
Evishanoran is in Cookstown registration district but I couldn't see a death in that district for a Thomas McKee before 1880.
