Ticehurst Records?
« on: Sunday 15 January 12 14:59 GMT (UK) »
I am hoping that someone has the records to hand of Ticehurst for 1842..

To help me solve this mystery!.. My ancester is William Sweatman, He married when he was 21 in Ticehurst sept Qtr 1842.. To Mary Ann luck...

However when i looked on LDS it states William Sweatman or Watson...

Now if im correct, His mother Jane Sweatman had William when she was only 15, Then she went on to marry John Watson in 1827...

The family were from Burwash, Sussex...

Please help me prove either way!

Yes thats Jane Sweatmans Baptism... thank you..

Her parents were Jane Balcomb and Thomas Sweatman...
Again i have confusion with this Jane!..

Jane Balcomb was born in Burwash 1771, She had a son In 1789 George Balcomb, Then she had a daughter Sarah Balcomb in 1793, Then she married Thomas Sweatman in 1803...

I dunno all these unmarried mothers!... lol

Any other info would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Kelly

My husband's Grand mother was a sweetman.  I have gone back as far as Thomas (1778) and Jane (1780 Nee Balcombe) Sweatman.  They had a son William 1808, which is the line my husband follows.
I have not looked into Williams siblings as I was more interested in just finding out where this family originated from.
The problem I found with this family is that their surname was always spelt different, I have Swatman Sweatman and sweetman.
Also there were several other Sweetman's in the area with the same names and born within a couple of years of each other, which caused me a few problems.
