can anyone help me to find
James Sewell he was born 1853 Carlisle
 1881 census for Crosscanoby he is living as a lodger in Furness Lane, single, age 27 a boiler makers Lab.I just can not find him after this date

1901 aged 46, Iron Ship Rivetter
married to Elizabeth + 4 kids.
RG13/4887/41/21

A boilersmith in 1911 :)

Possible death in 1924 aged 70 :)

Only missing from 1891 by my reckoning when he should have been married about 3 years, certainly with one kid

Hmmm ... there were two of them, both apparently involved with large hammers and hitting bits of metal.  :-\

Geoff thanks that is him 1911 I have just got the census he was living in King Street married 23 years to Elizabeth age 53  born Carlisle
 5 living children 3 still at home
Mary Elizabeth age 20
John age 17
 James age 11
so the Lilly you found looks like theres so One still to find
James was born Carlisle 1853 got his birth cert

The one whos Birth is Reg Sept 1853 is probably this one;
James SEWELL Christened 14 August 1853, Christ Church, Carlisle, Cumberland
Parents JOHN/MARY
1871 this one is in Botchergate, Cumberland with Parents.

Another one born c 1852, Carlisle, Cumberland is with his Parents THOMAS/JANE in Leeds, Yorkshire.

Thanks for all the info having a nightmare with my family tree this PC went on the blink be for xmas and my granddaughter took it to her boy friend to fix .he formated the hard drive without asking and I lost all my info .on top of all that he put windows 7 on and my back up disk wont work and I am starting from scratch.I have managed to retrieve a lot of past searches using the search button on hear so that's been a great help .I can only manage about a half hour at a time be for I cant see wood for trees The James I am working on at the moment is my grandfather Robert Sewells older brother
