They were both born circa 1900. They are my wife's grandparents. So many O'Dowds from that area. I have not had any luck confirming any ancestors further back in those lines.

Thanks

possible marriage for James and Ellen from the BMD Index ?

  Name: Ellen Walker
  Registration district: Tobercurry
  Event type: Marriage
Quarter and year: Apr - Jun 1919
  Volume: 4 / Page: 233

  James O'Dowd
  [same index references as Ellen]

Tobercurry registration district covers parts of south west county Sligo, and includes Cloonacool townland.

You can order a research cert using these details to see if this fits your clues.. a marriage cert will include residence of the bride and groom and also details (name & occupation) of their fathers which should help locate James and Ellen on the 1911 census

see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon
Details included on a Marriage Cert
