Re concerns about bakelite etc

Could the brooch be a newer mount on an older "structure"  .... Someone will know the right jargon ....  I see what could be older mounts on the "inner" bit  or perhaps that was for the little chain and safety clasp

Flowers may be a semi precious stone. While you were at it you should have asked your jeweller what it is.  ;)

JM, yes. There are silver flowers under the pink ones, so thats a posability.
Ruski, I have a book of Art Decco and Neuveu s? jewellery, I'll go and look.
Jeweller is a dear friend and wasn't very well when I visited him. I didn't want to push too far 'cos he wants me to do some research for him that I think is going to be almost impossible, (USA 1950s  ::) ) so I ducked out while he had his mind on another paying customer.  ;D
