Charlotte Hewetson / Marriage October 2nd 1820/ Kendal
« on: Thursday 19 January 12 15:37 GMT (UK) »
Hello....

I wonder if anyone can help me with this marriage ?

Charlotte Hewetson, married WILLIAM TAYLOR on 2/10/1820 at Kendal

I am hoping father's names are on the Registers, as I am almost sure that this is the marriage of my forebears. William was a Forge worker from Colton in Lancashire

Here's hoping !

Hello Carole

I was clutching at straws really.

I was hoping there would be mention of his job as a forgeworker. This would then confirm it is tha marriage I was looking for. I know my William married a Charlotte, and they had two sons, but I have not been able to confirm her maiden name as yet

I am pretty certain she is "mine" but need to sure before I claim her

Thankyou once again

Hi JeannieR,
Where were your William/Charlotte in the 1841/1851 Census?
When and where were they both born from Census entries.
Childrens names DOB/POB etc please.
(I looked for a William Taylor born Colton, Wife Charlotte with little success)

The reason I ask is that there is a William Taylor, Wife Charlotte living in Kendal, Westmoreland in 1851, both born there.
So these may be the ones that Married 1820.

Trish :)

Hi Trish......

I have, just this morning , found the William and Charlotte Taylor, living at Kendal, and can now discount this marriage, as being between my 4 x great grandparents

I know that my Charlotte died, possibly in childbirth, prior to 1833, when William Taylor remarried Agnes Postlethwaite. On the 1841 census, they are living at Buck a Bank , near Dalston in Cumberland. They are living with the children of Williams 1st  marriage (4) and the children from their union

I just wish I could find Charlottes maiden name

My William, was actually born at Cleator Moor in 1797. The family, as far back as I can go were Forgeworkers.......

Thank You for your time

Hi

One of the other problems with pre-1837 marriages is that they don't show occupations.  Very frustrating if you find several possibilities!!
