Peter Gillespie - Alloa 1775
« on: Friday 27 February 09 23:56 GMT (UK) »
Hi,

I was hoping someone out there could help with this one.  My ancestor Peter Gillespie ( a labourer) c. 1775 in Alloa worked for a Mr. Erskine (would that be on the estate?) his son David was born that same year.  He was married on 21st Dec 1770 in Logie Perthshire, to Helen Nuccol/Nicol who came from Alloa.  I would like to find his/her deaths or his parents names.

Any advice would be really appreciated!

Thanks,

Daryl

Hi,

I was hoping someone out there could help me break through my brick wall regarding an ancestor of mine.

I'm trying to find info on Peter Gillespie, who lived in Alloa c.1771 onwards.  He married Helen Nicol on 21st Dec 1770 in Logie, Perthshire and then settled in Alloa.  He was working for Mr. Erskine in 1775, when his son David was born.

Can anyone look up burial records for Alloa, or maybe Logie to see if he's there ?  David his son died in Primrose St, Alloa in 1867 aged 93.

Regards,

Daryl

Hi M,

I don't think your David matches mine. My David was born in May 1775, and his son was born in 1809 in Alloa. His mother was Isabella Cowie.

Hi M,

Are you on Ancestry ? If you are you can have a look at my Gillespie family tree.
That way we might be able to see if we are related.

Regards,

Daryl

I was but am not back on as yet. As soon as I am should be able to have a look.

P.s. if you are on Genes Reunited have a look for Margaret Hunter who may be able to help you further. She has provided a link from her family to mine as goes from New Zealand to Scotland.
