Visitation of Shropshire 1623
« on: Saturday 21 January 12 14:00 GMT (UK) »
I am researching the St Pier family, and have difficulty with the
Visitation of Shropshire 1623. There are obviously many anomalies.
Perhaps someone could advise me where the errors occur, or better
still give me a corrected version ? I have checked and verified this
family back to Ricardus (Richard), the last family on page 427, but
how correct is all the information earlier than that family ?

Welcome to RootsChat
It would help if you could give the details of where you saw the Visitation?

Hello Stan

I was given a copy of the visitation by a fellow researcher of the St Piers some years ago, and in particular St Peter of Cause pages 424 to 427. But recently I have been informed that there are many errors ie top of page 425 Urian St Pier married Agnes de Brusse but had only a daughter, no sons. I am hoping that someone may have some answers as to where the errors are.

That is part one. The family I require is in part two, and does not appear to have been published digitally.

So it's really a bit difficult for us to help you, if we don't have a copy available.

Have you been able to check other sources - manorial documents/wills, etc.

Unfortunately not. I live in France at the moment, and legwork in the UK is not possible. I could possibly copy the sheets I have in my possession ( plenty of scribblings ) and attach them to this forum.

Is it possible for you to summarise the part that you have problems with.  I've only managed to get earlier that 1600 with two of my Shropshire lines (and those via Welsh docs!)

Shropshire Archives might be able to help.
