Can I change the genealogy report on FTM 2005
« on: Saturday 21 January 12 16:34 GMT (UK) »
I like FTM 2005  but am a little disappointed with the Genealogy reports.  They do not allow you to edit them and they are a bit repetetive.  I just want to be able to delete a few repetitions.  When the report is on the screen it will not let you high light so that you could copy it to word or somesuch and edit.
Any suggestions, please,
Abiam2

I don't know if it works the same way. I have FTM 6.0 for Windows 95. When I have the report on screen, I open the File tab and click export report, then I save it as .rtf file. Then I can open it in MS Word and edit, insert pictures etc.

How timely & perfect. I'm just preparing to download some descendants reports too, & wanted to add some notes.

Thank you Abiem2 for posting & LizzieL for having such a simple solution.

Much appreciated.

Isn't it nice when something falls into place.  See my thread  headed Ancestry...... here in the common room.   You will appreciate why Lizziel's reply was so gratefully received!

So glad it worked for you. I was worried that a simple method that worked for the old software, had been removed as a so called improvement in newer versions.

I'm running my old version on a laptop with Windows Vista now, after my old PC died. It works without any problem except the Help menu didn't install properly, but hopefully I can get along without it.

Hi,
It is about 6 months since I have tried to get back properly to genealogy.  Now trying again!  And I have a similar problem with FTM 2005 - I should say it is MY problem not theirs.

I am back to creating a different Genealogy Report (to the last time) and it will only print 2 or 3 generations although I have stipulated 8.  It must be something stupid I am doing as it worked so well last time.  Thank you LizzieL.

Has anyone any idea of what I am doing wrong, please?

Ignore the previous post please!  I am so stupid.  The answer is in the title "Ancestor report".  I was starting at the wrong end - of course there would only be a couple of ancestors if the person concerned was born around 1780.  having seen the light I can now check and alter my report.  Sorry to have wasted anyone's time.
