Charlotte VOYSEY/KINGDOM - South Molton 1840s
« on: Tuesday 24 January 12 01:12 GMT (UK) »
Hello I am seeking information on Charlotte Voysey.

She married George Kingdom in Knowstone on 22/9/1842.

I know they had at least one child - Henry born 18/3/1847.

George was transported to Australia in 1849 for seven years and started a new life.

I would like to know if they had any more children and what happened to Charlotte after
his departure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Michael

A Charlotte KINGDON aged 31 was shown in the 1851 census for South Molton, although she was listed as a single person, servant in the household of Charlotte HODSKIN. No way to tell if this was 'yours'. I couldn;t find any trace of Henry.

Hi, thanks for that.

My fault - I should have mentioned Henry only lived a week.

Thanks for your help

The Charlotte Kingdon shown in 1851 is a house servant for Hodskin family. I have her as the daughter of Abraham Kingdon (1772) & Mary Bishop and baptised in South Molton 14.04.1818.
In 861 she is a Cook with the same Hodskin family now living in Woolwich, London. In 1871 she is in Rochester, Kent, still cooking for same family (now recorded as Hodgkin?)
I did not find her in 1881 Census. Believe that she may have died 1885 in South Molton age 63?
Have no records of Charlotte Kingdon (nee Veysey/Voysey) in any census?
