Hi Mark,

I have little doubt that the information provided to you is for the correct person:

William Stewart Drapes b.29 Jan 1869
Married Constance S. Roe 5 July 1894
Had two daughters, Winifred Constance b. 18 April 1895 and Helena Stewart b. 4 October 1902.

Records available suggest his last tournaments were the Irish and European Championships in 1907. Records also suggest that he died in 1907 so it must have been the result of a tragic accident or sudden serious illness.

Death record for William Stewart Drapes on BMD index 1907 Bandon registration district Quarter July Sep Vol 5 page 1 Death cert (a photocopy of the entry costs less and gives the same information) can be applied for at  www.groireland.ie and will give cause of death if it is of interest..

Mark,

I am confident William S Drapes was born in Durrow. Records I have show his father, Rev. V.R. Drapes was appointed Rector of Durrow in 1865 and another record I have shows that he was still there in 1874.

Cheers,

Terry
