I'm just amazed by the response to my question.  Thank you.  So, for completeness, i'm related to Thomas H Quinn / Elizabeth Herring (they were my paternal great grandparents).  I had no idea Thomas had any other siblings so this is fascinating;  I'm also stuck on any of the irish ancestry ...Thomas H's father was also Thomas and his father Patrick, but beyond that I'm stuck.  Any thoughts on the Lindon name and where that comes from?  Is it from the Alexander or Quinn side?  Andy

I believe Lindon is Thomas Quinn’s stage name
He is using it before he meets Martha.
I thought it might have been his mother’s maiden name but I haven’t found a birth that works for that.
I’ve found before with these music hall families that there are sometimes more than one stage name. But usually there is something that connects them.

There is a public tree on ancestry that has detail about Martha Elizabeth Minehan who married Newman. Worth looking at to see 1921 census they have added, that I am not allowed to talk about here.  I will say that page is just one of the pages associated with that address. There are a total of 18 people there.
And it says Martha is sister to someone I have no idea who he is…
Owner of tree is  symesfolley

A bit of a summary of The Quinn Children to Thomas Quinn/Lindon & Martha Alexander

Archibald Thomas Joseph QUINN - b 1876
Archie LINDON in 1881.  Not found in further censuses
possibly Royal Navy (he’s a hairdresser at enlistment) then Fireman for NZ shipping company to 1903.  Not found after

Thomas Francis Henry QUINN b 1878 died 1958
married Elizabeth Sarah HERRING 17 June 1899.  and had children

Rose Catherine Lindon QUINN b 1879 died 1959
married Harry ELLIS 1904 and had children

Frederick Patrick Lindon QUINN born 1881Trees have him (as Frederick Patrick Elvyn Lyndon Quinn ) marrying Catherine Andrew MARSHALL in London in 1916
Son’s birth in Scotland 1918 has their marriage as 16th May 1916, London & mother just Catherine MSS Marshall - no Andrew
I cannot see the marriage anywhere.   Also - He already has a handful of names, why add Elvyn to them? Is there a reason?  And, trees have Catherine dying in South Africa 1959. I can’t see that either.
There is also the Frederick P. L. Quinn who marries in Sunderland 1911 to Henrietta L. Gedye.  Who is he?

Peter Lindon QUINN 1886 - 1888

There's a 1911 census Sunderland Both b Sunderland. Married 6 years

Marriage 1901 Kent
William Eustace Burr

NameHenrietta QuinnAge37
Estimated Birth Yearabt 1875

Another tree has Henrietta Louise Gedge marrying William Newton Robson in 1911.

I think people are just picking names and dates out of a hat without checking properly

Flippin heck this is worse than looking for John Jones son of John Jones and Mary  who married Mary Jones daughter of John Jones and Mary in Bala.😆😆😆

Yes - I had decided that was them. Which I decided ruled him out as being too old. 'our" man should only be 30 in 1911.
BUT then I noticed the married 6 Years. When the Frederick. P. L. Quinn marriage was only 1911.  (but I realise now it was after census date)
Perhaps they had been living together that long?
Only way to be sure is to see the marriage entry. It doesn't appear to be one that is online.

Yes, and it doesn't take much effort to cross check which of the 4 individuals on the index married.  Henrietta GEDYE definitely married Frederick. P. L. QUINN

Andy (looking at your tree) - Where do you see Martha being called Margaret/Margarita?

And how are the Brights? connected. Do you have a DNA connection to Dorothy Florence?
