Schoch family from Ohringen
« on: Saturday 28 January 12 15:14 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to locate any information on this family;

Christian Schoch b: abt 1857  (butcher) married  Karoline Osterle in abt 1878 in Ohringen.  They had at least 3 children;

Friedrich August Louis b: 1879 in Ohringen d: 1962 in Bournemouth. He emigrated to England in 1896 (butcher). I have all the details for him.

Karoline b: 1882   d: Karoline  Schoch may be Rambacher in Stuttgart 1952.  Looking for marriage details as well as children, may be as many as 13 of them.

Rosa or Rose or Rosalina, with an initial of "P", b: 1886. Looking for any information on her.

Not speaking the language is just a bit of a hindrance.  Most of what I have is from handwritten notes left by Friedrich (my grandfather). Details of the parents would be great.

Hi CaroleW,
Nice to hear from you again.  Yes those links do need some more investigation.  If the German name Ludwig is the same as the English name Louis then there might be a possible match.  I'm not so sure that my Grandfather did not "anglicize" the names when he got to the UK.  Friedrich to  Frederick etc.   He was interred during both the wars, because he was German born, in fact he had his butcher shops seized both times and afterwards never got them back.

This was the reason that I started my research in the 1st place but I have never got any further than the information that I started with.  Now the other branches seem to be solid I am turning back to the Schoch line again.  Maybe the experience gained will now help towards success.

I'm always hoping to bump into my German relatives who are trying to find me LOL.

Hi CaroleW,
Well Ludwig is a German derivation of Louis.  How many other men would have all those middle names and be born of the same day in the same town in Germany.  There are some other coincidences with his parents (name matches etc) so all in all this looks promising.

Thank you very much for finding the link.  I had been using an old link to the FamilySearch.org and none of this ever showed up.  With a little more work I may be able to attach this to the family bush.

Regards

Richard
