'Bodfish' family
« on: Sunday 29 January 12 10:48 GMT (UK) »
In my research I have found that  William Bigg  (the family name that I am tracing) married a lady called Sarah Bodfish on the 12th October 1729 by licence at Letchworth, Herts.  I have tried to obtain Bonds & Allegations for this without success.  I don't think Sarah was born in Letchworth so it could be any parish in the Hitchin area.  Any help would be much appreciated with this unusual surname.

Hi,

Have checked on the CD for Herts Parish marriage records & found the marriage of William & Sarah. A bit of additional info that might help you is that William Bigg is 'of Much-Wimondley' & Sarah Bodfish is 'of Hitchin'.

Regards

Hi Coreen,

Thanks very much for your quick reply.  It is some years since I viewed the parish registers for Letchworth, could remember William states he was from Much Wymondley but was not sure where Sarah said she was from.  The family name of Bodfish is a challenge simply because there are not many of them or is it a name which has been spelt differently over the years?
