My mistake, I read it that she was born in 1901. Apologies and back to the drawing board.

Regards

Ignore Margaret Eleanor, she is the daughter of Francis Brand Duncan and Eleanor.

There is a marriage for Eleanor Duncan and William H Palmer A-M-J 1912 Ecclesall Bierlow Derbyshire, Yorks-West Riding.

Do you know if her siblings married in Derbyshire or back in Liverpool?

Ok Malky . . . Hi Heather . . . That's a good hit . . .I never found that . . . The siblings did marry in Derby . . . The descendants I found who never answered my social media probings were all in Bradford are, but of course that was a couple of generations away from Eleanor.

That really is a good hit, Heather - I will get back to you both after I follow it up

Did the siblings marry in Derby, Derbyshire or West Derby Liverpool?
On the Lancs B M D site there are marriages for similar names to her siblings in west Derby, Liverpool.

I have an alternative theory. Eleanor is in London training as a teacher in 1911 and I think she travels to India and becomes a teacher in a mission http://scnc.ukzn.ac.za/doc/REL/Christ/St_Aidans_Mission.pdf.

There are a couple of photos of her, and one does look possibly right for age frame, however there is no other information.

Just a suggestion;-)

Good morning Glossoplas,
I have just surfaced on this very cold Cumbrian morning and it will take me some to get into my research mode, but you pose an intriguing  theory.

I had wondered, given the name of her training college, if she had perhaps gone abroad, though I would have expected her to have returned at some time.   In fact unless she formally emigrated to Canada or Australia I am certain she would have come back, but of course, once your searching takes you past the 1911 census, your work becomes much harder, or at least mine does, being a bit of an amateur at this.

I will run with your suggestion and Heather's today and see what comes up - thanks very much for the web link, that will be a very interesting lead to follow - I have written to the archivist of the British and Foreign Schools Society to see if they have anything in the Stockwell College archives that might help - it may even support your Indian theory.

Best regards,

Kincaid
