Ink Fading

 The ink on some of my copy Birth and Marriage certificate is fading they are not in the light any ideas how best to keep them please ,they are in plastic pockets at the moment in a file wonder if its maybe the plastic

I should take them out of the plastic pockets. The carbon seems to migrate from the paper to the plastic. They should keep if you just file them.

Also,  scan them, save them to your computer,  back them up on an external drive and print out a spare set.

You're right. I have never given this a thought and when i read your post and looked at some of my earlier ones - the same problem.
Off to wake up the scanner and scan them in now then.

Thank you for mentioning it - they cost enough don't they so to loose the content is annoying.

Hi Sue :)

Unless the plastic is PVC, it is not the problem.  It's likely a combination of where the papers are stored (i.e. the environment) and what they are printed with and on.
