Hi Bobwag.
Do you know whereabouts in County Cavan Butlers Bridge is situated.
I have, I believe, a Maguire but my person was born around 1800.
Her name was Rebecca and she was my ggg grandmother living in Long Buckby, Northamptonshire.
I can find no one else connected with her with the possible exception of a lady named Lucy who was also born in Ireland.
I realise that this may be a long shot but I have noting else to go on.
Looking forward to your reply
Kind regards
Mick

Butlers Bridge is about midway between Cavan town and Belturbet on the N3.
Sorry if I'm hijacking the thread, but I'm curious about mick7546's Rebecca Maguire.  Was Maguire her maiden name?  My great great grandmother was Lucy Maguire nee Patterson, born 1806, and at the time of her marriage to Thomas Maguire in 1820 she was living in the townland of Cleggan, parish of Cleenish, Co. Fermanagh.
Bobwag:  Thomas, John and James' names appear in my family, John and James being sons of Thomas.  Thomas lived in Cleggan at the time of his marriage, but he was not from there.
What time period are you looking at?  And what religion?

Carl, the only thing I know about Rebecca is that she had a daughter Elizabeth Reeve, who was of mature years when she was baptised in 1856 at Long Buckby, Northamptonshire.
On the census returns she is shown as being married to William Reeve but I am unable to trace the marriage, or the birth of Elizabeth. Her birthplace is shown as Belturbet, Ireland.
On the Elizabeths' baptism records her name is shown as Rebecca Maguire Reeve

That's okay mick7546.

The one entry that interested me when I looked through the records there is
an Elizabeth Reeve having an illegitmate child named Edith Ellen in Long Buckby.
