Many thanks for info re passenger lists i was not aware you could see list on line you have saved me a trip to Nth Melb I started to do my family tree for myself and my family so they would know where they came from, there was no info about my maternal grandmothers family only bits and pieces, i have a family tree on my maternal grandfathers side so that has been covered. My mother and all her siblings are all now deceased so there aren,t any older members of the family who can help in my research but i have come a long way with it. I have also traced my late fathers ancestors back to the 1600,s, my childrens fathers ancestors on both sides, and i have found it very interesting. If you find more info about the whites/fultons in your research i would be most appreciative if you passed any info onto me.
Cheers June

If you need help with your Australian family perhaps make a request on that board.

Hi June,
This information is for your #Reply 14.

From the ship's manifest for the "Hougoumont" -

WHITE Rebecca - age 24 - single - occupation - dressmaker - country - Irish

WHITE Elizabeth - age 14 - single (no other information)

Rebecca & Elizabeth White were listed together on the passenger list - so I presume they were travelling together?.

WHITE William - age 69 - single - occ - carpenter - country - English.

Hope this helps.

Sarra

Many thanks not sure about info i think i will have to go to PROV in Nth Melbourne and acutally look at the record, i am not aware of a sister to Rebecca named Elizabeth aged 14. My info is that Rebecca emigrated in 1869 and she married Thomas Rossiter in 1871 aged 23, i have a copy of Rebecca's marriage certificate. Rebecca was my maternal great grandmother.

Hi June,

I would like to make a correction to the information, I posted for  -
Elizabeth White - age 14 - it should have been - Country - English.

I'll leave you to view the record for yourself - make of it what you will.
I would have made a copy of it for you...but the printer is not working. :(

I noticed that Thomas Rossiter's mother was Louisa White - is it possible that she had some connection to Rebecca White's family?

Cheers

Unassisted Immigrants arriving Victoria - ages on passenger lists are not always accurate.

WHITE Rebecca  24 years  arrived May 1869 on the HOUGOUMONT     Port B Fiche 282 Page 005

Another resource states Rebecca's nationality is Irish.  There is also a John, 69 and a Eliza,14 WHITE on the HOUGOMONT however another resource states they are English.  Do you have evidence that her parents emigrated to Victoria?

Sarra.....Same info as on an online subscription website with the Vic passenger lists ;)

Sorry no connection between louisa white, Thomas's mother and Rebecca White his wife, i have traced thomas and his family back to 1750 in Somerset England. Louisa White was English and Rebecca White was born in Northern Ireland, her family originally coming from Scotland and one of her ancestor's was Rob Roy McGregor.

Re connection  to Rob Roy McGregor, i think i am related down the line to his sister Margaret not Rob Roy himself.
