Hi Please could somebody lookup a Elizabeth Spotswood born c.1793 in Allendale area i think, on the 1841, or 1851 census please?

According to the IGI - baptisd 4th February 1793 - St Peters & Allenhead Chapelries. Allendale
parents - George & Mary Spotswood

By 1841 - she would be 48 ish - did she not marry ?

There is a marriage between

Elizabeth Spotswood and George Gibson

16 May 1806 in Ilderton, Northumberland.

If she was born 1793 - she would only be 13 - but, she may not have been baptised as a baby !

hI kATHY, thankyou, she did marry a George, but his surname is Whitfield, i am just not sure when they married

It would seem that Elizabeth was already a widow by 1841 - although it also seems to indicate that she had a daughter - also Elizabeth

Perhaps the daughter Elizabeth, married a Philipson - there is a niece - <ary A Philipson aged 18 in 1871 !

I was in St Peter's Chapelry today...

Elizabeth's baptism on 4 Feb 1793... only thing to add what Kathy has already given you is that the residence of George and Mary was something " White Ligg " and vicar headed the page "Allenhedes Chapelries"... he must have been a Geordie !

Same church...

Marriage 1st August 1829
Elizabeth Spotswood and Teasdale Whitfield. Both made a " X ". Witnesses were Robert Spotswood and Jane Dickinson.

At Teasdale Whitfield's marriage to Sarah Bell on 6 July 1816 at Allendale church, there was one witness.... Matthew Whitfield.

The NDFHS indexes of " Northumberland Marriages 1813-1837" lists Teasdale Whitfield marrying Jane Vert at Allenhead on 23 May 1833. The parish register recorded similar, except vicar had recorded groom asa Thomas, not Teasdale ( will look at this "error" again ) Witnesses were George Stoker or Stokoe and George Navin.

The Parish records certainly contained a lot of Whitfield entries !
