Laura LANGDON - information sources :

The Laura LANGDON (d. 1938) file (previous post), states that she had an interest in the Estate of Thomas LANGDON.

Our NZ BDM online site seems to currently be out of action, so I was unable to search for a New Zealand birth record for this Laura (if indeed she was born here).

However confirmation that she was a daughter of a Thomas LANGDON, Butcher of Christchurch, who died at that place in 1904, comes by way of the following Probate file >

https://ndhadeliver.natlib.govt.nz/delivery/DeliveryManagerServlet?dps_pid=IE70189674

... Will of Thomas LANGDON refers to his children Laura LANGDON and John Louis LANGDON (amongst others).
[Included also is the death certificate of Thomas LANGDON - stating he married at Exeter, ENG, to Georgina Augusta SHARLAND - who is possibly the mother of Laura / John Louis/ etc. ??  ]

Hope this helps in sorting out who's who ?    ;D

The earlier comments and information given in this thread > suggesting that Laura/Loria* remarried following the death of her husband John (in 1889), seem to be correct - in that she became Mrs HOUGHTON.

I was trying to figure out if Loria White married the John Millar Langdon who died in the Brunner Disaster in Grey in 1896 ......

Link to Letters of Administration in the Estate of John Millar LANGDON junior, late of Brunner, Miner. deceased   >>
https://ndhadeliver.natlib.govt.nz/delivery/DeliveryManagerServlet?dps_pid=IE70406531

The affidavit of John Maunder LANGDON, father of John Millar LANGDON, states that his son left neither a widow or children ...

-----------

[ "Loria" (in  place of Laura) ... do bear in mind that "Loria" > although recorded on NZ marriage index for John LANGDON - Loria WHITE - 1881 > may well be a "typo" which occurred at the indexing stage of this record.    You'd need to perhaps check the English birth record for Laura/Loria WHITE  to clarify  ?? ]

OK thanks. From my experience the fact that Loria disappears means there would be spelling mistakes  with her name in records or she perhaps left New Zealand for good and moved to somewhere else. There's usually just a couple of reasons why someone 'disappears.'
