McCullochs in Kilmarnock, NB?

Have recently found gravestone inscription in Sussex, England for Agnes and Ruby McCulloch which refers to their parents as 'William and Mary McCulloch of Kilmarnock NB'
If they went to New Brunswick, it would probably have been after 1861, as Ruby (Rebecca) was born in Ireland in that year. William was born around 1821, and his occupation was 'joiner'.
Have been told that NB may mean North Britain i.e. Scotland, but can't find them there.
Can anyone advise how best to check on New Brunswick possibility?
