Not really family history is it - more of a hobby

Have you done any research yourself by using Google/freebmd/ or the 1911 census to get information.  The free 1911 index shows 190 entries for surname Drakes in Lincs so without more info - how is anybody able to determine the right family?

You haven't given any christian names or birthyears etc etc - all the basic sort of info that you know from your past posts is needed when you ask for help

There was actually only one DRAKES who playes first class cricket in England - he was born at Bardney http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/player/12252.html

His father was Thomas, born c1881 at Usselby near Mkt Rasen.

Other counties have their equivalent places, but in Lincs, if someone left a door open, someone may have asked "Do you come from Bardney?" :)  Even Wiki is aware of it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bardney
Today I broke my personal record for most consecutive days alive.

Hi John, :)

I have Drakes in my line, although most of them lived alongside of the banks of the Severn, and I did have a few of my ancestors that tried to play cricket I can just about remember my old granny putting a friendly wing around me telling me stories about them getting out for a duck,  rumour  has it that we did have one famous rellie that they named a train after " THE MALLARD ", althougn I take this story with a pinch of salt, Our line is noted for there passion for emigrating every so often, so you may well find our line scattered all over trhe world,  If I can find anything in my records that will link us I will post same,

Pete :)

P.s  every bit helps, did any of your line have a phobia about saucepans, it runs strong in my line

Hi john :)

just been going through my records, I do have a Drake in the Linconshire dist,

I done a blanket search for my G uncle Walter Drake ( c 1895 ) and much to my suprise i found him in Linconshire

                    Marriages June Q 1920

Drake       Walter                 Glanford B    vol 7a  page  1754

Down      Ider                      Glanford B    vol 7a page   1754

I know that they went on to have a large brood, and that Ider became famous locally starting up her own buisness in bedding, as for Walter, whenever his name is mentioned in the family,it goes quiet, however I did manage to find a few things out about his going missing, seems he went for a swim one morning and never came back, left poor Ider a shell of herself, ( if you can shed any more light on this death then I would be most happy ), Will post anything else I can find that might further your line,

Best wishes

Pete :)

Hi John

You may find this site useful - http://www.drakesfamily.org
I think you'll find they did some farming in between cricket matches!

Kind regards
QD
