Hi Gerry,  Thank you how do I go about actually getting his army no?  This confirms ok that he was a South Wales Borderers, and that he was a L.Cpl, how do I go about searching for his army records? regards Trish

To follow this up now you have his Regimental Number you will have to subscribe to either Ancestry or Find my Past, or get someone to do a look-up for you, or try the South Wales Boarderers museum in Brecon again.

I see from your family tree info that you too have Dix interest. My wifes mother Betty was a Dix from the line of Jonah (1838-1888) who came up from Somerset and settled in Landavel, Cwm, Ebbw Vale and James (1869-1936), and Jonah (1892-1949) who moved to Argoed, Blackwood.

Is this the same line as yours?

John Thomas Roberts 20 Glanyrafon Terrace, Reg no 22589 L/Cpl 2nd SWB

I have tried to find the army medal records for 22589, and I am told this could be a typo and that it should read 22587?

Could you tell me if this is correct?  I am not sure if I am right at looking at 22587, I have tried to find 22589 and nothing comes up.  Could it be a error?

22587 has a Private Thoma J Roberts
22589 has a L/Cpl (according to Absent voters list).
Can anyone help?

The 22589 Roberts is John Thomas (according to Gerry), whereas the 22587 Roberts is Thomas John. The address Gerry provided from the absent voters list seems to point to John Thomas Roberts being your man. I think the last digit being different may be a typo as you suggest. It's curious though that the first names are the other way around.

I am still looking through the service and pension records, but havent found anything for John Thomas or Thomas John Roberts - there's still a lot to go through

Hi my Dicks/Dixs came from Frome or Westbury in Somerset.  I have been stuck on Samuel Dicks born 1807 Bradley, Wilts, who married Mary Ann, surname unknown 16 Oct 1825 Parish Church, Bradford upon Avon.  I have his mother Dorothy born 1776 Wiltshie, but nothing else. regards Trish
