Royal engineers

My father served in the Royal Engineers during WWII. He was a Lance Corporal. He was demobbed in 1944 or 1945 and went to work in Persia where he died in 1947.
I do not know which unit he served with, his service number or any other information on him. All I have is his cap badge. Anybody who had any information have all passed on.
Can anybody point me in the right direction to get this information. Where I would apply etc..
