Bohalis where is it?
« on: Saturday 14 May 05 03:40 BST (UK) »
Okay I think I am in the right county now - Michael Rock my great great granfather lived in Bohalis in the parish of Castlerea in the district of Ballagherreen Roscommon.  Where is Bohalis?  I thought it was Boholis last night but found it was Bohalis! ???

Please see my reply on the Mayo board.  Either board is "right" - the area was transferred from Co Mayo to Co Roscommon in 1898.

:) Hi....my father was from Bohalis !!.....it is a small village about 2 - 3 miles from Ballaghadereen town travelling towards Charlestown. The village once had a little shop and post office both of which are gone now......it used to be spelt ''Bohalas'' and once was in Co. Mayo but became part of Co. Roscommon I think about 1860??
