Wonderful - just wonderful!

Susanna Clapp was Amelia Lavinia's mother.

- and I know Samuel's parents!!  ;D ;D   and Susanna's mother!!

 The picture is coming together!!

Thank you very very much!!     I can see I have hours of fun tracking their notices through Trove now - and through the electoral rolls!!

Very satisfying!!       :D :D

Something else for you to check Wiggy.....Guy William Grigg DUNNING has a digitised record on the NAA. It gives his wife as Vera.

I'll do that  - thanks Dee - found it - interesting - quite old when he signed on wasn't he at 39.

Interesting - I've just found Frederick Grigg Dunning's death notice - he died at the home of his sister Mrs Beenie in 1903 - I wondered why he was buried in the family grave with Mum and Dad.  I wonder where his family were - nicked off interstate?? - divorced??   Maybe that's why there was only one son - who'd died before Fred.   Will have a look for her under her own name instead of associated with Fred.

Well there is a Clara Downing living alone in North Carlton in 1903.  not so far off in sound is it.  Hmmmm   I wonder . . .   She is still there on her own in Farraday Street - Laundress - doesn't sound right though - unless her family have 'caste her off'!   This was the family who had a bit of money . . . !  Dunnings I mean!

Another thing - been looking at the Electoral Rolls - Frank Grigg Dunning and Andrew Dunning are together on the electoral Roll in 1903 - no sign of Mary - Can't find Mary's death notice in the paper - so I wonder if she'd nicked off too?   I looked but women were on the rolls in Victoria so . . . .

As for looking for Frederick Dunning on the rolls - forget it - everyone named Dunning had a son named Fred + another name - and there were lots and lots of Dunnings (some saying copy to NZ or UK or  . . . . )

Just had a look at Clara Dunning's Death record- short version!

- interesting that her father's name is given not her husband's  - though father had died well before her husband - so it looks as if there had been a rift there.   Don't think I will bother getting the certificate itself - she's fairly far removed - but interesting!

You've got a lot to sort, Wiggy!   ;)

No Dunning Divorces in the Index to 1900 in Victoria.

Wiggy, I presume you have the baptism of Thomas Dunning?

as in Thomas who came out from Devon - well I have the Devon read out of the record - I actually find them better than just the birth lists in UK - but I don't have the original church record.

Why do you ask Dee?     Or are you talking about the Thomas George, son of Frederick Grigg, Born 1876 in Carlton.
I don't have his birth certificate.

 - it is only now that I've been going sideways in this family - my line is through Rebecca Jane Scott Dunning.  I started just following the direct line back - then since hitting brick walls everywhere, I've started trying to find out more about their families and lives here in Australia.
