thanks all.   I based the start of my research on the son of T & L (John) his DC confirmed that he was born in 1852 and T & L were his Fa and Mo.    Their marriage was obtained from Sidlesham Marriage Register.   The rest of the info was taken from the census material.   With the exception of Letitia (1844) they all seemed to fit in as siblings of John.

I have only just started to "flesh" out the siblings of my GGGrandfather John (1852).

Omega - I have both thos census details.

Liz - I also have the deaths of L and William

If Letitia had somehow changed her name to Talbot then I think she married a William Nockels in 1875.   In the 1881, 1891 and 1901 census they have a Sarah Watkins with them and she could be the dau of Ls sister Harriet.   All details seem to fit.

BIG question is why would she change her name(?)

Did she sign the marriage certificate or is there an X signifying that someone else signed?

It may help to remember that at this time many (perhaps) most members of the servant class
were semi or completely illiterate.

She may not have known how her last name was spelled and therefore would not have recognized a misspelling of the name on a certificate.
