Looking for a marriage and birth - no idea where in Ireland though

I am looking for a marriage of my 4x great grandparents - Angus McLeod (born in Edinburgh) and Jane Gold (born in Ireland) - both born around 1790ish and married before 1815.
I am also looking for the birth of their son Robert Gold McLeod - possibly around 1815.

The reason I have so much bother with these people are that Angus was an army man (Blackwatch) so they could have been anywhere when they married and anywhere when Robert was born. Family folklore even suggests that Robert was born at Waterloo.

Any help or pointers very greatfully received.

Really difficult to get records of marriages and baptisms for such early dates without a location.
In Ulster Gold is also written as Goold, Goald, Gould.

Have you had any luck finding Army records for Angus McLeod?

Did Robert not live long enough to appear on 1841 or 1851 censuses?

I know a little about his army career - but only in so much as he was in the Blackwatch and was at waterloo. I am getting some research done at kew by a friend of mine which will hopefully give me something more to work on.
I know that the son isnt the only child born in Ireland and that several others were born in Gibraltar and also there is a link with Wrexham.
I have them in Edinburgh by 1841 and he has already retired from the army at that point. He is always listed as a Chelsea outpensioner and this is another line that needs researching.
The name Gold has been used as a middle name in several children (as is often the case in Scots families - female maiden names used as middle names) although I have seen it written as Gould on one family record for one of the children.
