Have you considered trying to trace down the line you think the photos belong to, to find a living relative?  They may be able to help you name the photos or would be delighted to receive such a gift.

I'm sure if you gave details of the family you think they may have belonged to, people here would help you attempt to trace a living relative (obviously not giving details of living people on the forum).

Hi Louisa Maud...As Ruskie said...there are a couple of us on the restoration board who collect old photos, cabinet cards and CDVs...we sometimes put them on the board for dating info if there is a name...we try to locate the family line then pass them on to relatives....very rewarding and a great challenge.
If you decide to post them on the photo restoration board...scan the back and front including the edges and in colour and we will help you to trace them through census returns, Family Trees and BMDs
Please don't throw them away...I'll cry... ;D ;D

I agree with Carol,scan the front and back and post them maybe a couple at a time on the photo board.You will at least get them dated and possibly info on the photographer.
