Thank you so much for all the information :D. I e-mailed Barrow in Furness, but you certainly have been on the ball.

I hadn't anything on Mary COBB's family. My info says Mary COBB died after 1769, which means she was just 41 years old, rather young. Their daughter Jane was b. 1768 d. 26 June 1768. The following year, their son Jimmy christened 30 July 1769 and buried 20 December, aged 5 months.

I wonder if Mary perhaps died in childbirth.

Could you tell me what, by publication means - Mary Cobb married John Titrington
Colton ,by publication
July 7th 1754

I assume it means publication of banns, there is so little in those records I couldnt pick any thing up,neither could I find a burial plan for the church yard ,but possibly who ever picks up your email may know if there is one.

Thank you once again for your help.

A burial plan would be excellent, shall wait and see.

Have had a reply from Barrow in Furness archives.

They have checked the burial register transcript for Colton church and both John and Jimmy Tittrington (that is how it was spelt in the register) were buried there on the dates I gave.  There is no plan showing the position of graves in the church yard so can't tell me exactly where they were buried.  It is quite possible that there was no headstone on either grave.

I now know my GGGG Grandfather John TITTERINGTON and his son Jimmy are buried there.

They cannot find the burial of Mary Tittrington in Colton church.  If I would like them to do any more research, then I would need to use their Historical Research Service.

Can I pick your brain once more.

I am now trying to find where my GGG Grandfather could be buried.

William TITTERINGTON was born Abt 1757 in Colton and died after 11 September 1796.

He married Mary SAWREY 26 November 1787 in Heversham, Westmoreland, England. She was born Abt.1754 in Milton, Warton and died 4 August 1839 in Cold Well, Yealand, Redmayne.

When William married in 1789 he was a single man and husbandman of Haverflatts.
