Hello, I've just found this interesting site! I've been searching for ages for my great grandfather's ancestors.He was RICHARD LAYCOCK born about 1837 in Warlaby, Ainderby Steeple, near Northallerton and was christened in St Helens Church.Can anyone advise me how to find out more please.

What else do you know about Richard?  Wife's name, children's name, marriage dates etc.?

1837 is an interesting year as civil registration started on 1 July 1837 so if he was born after that you may be able to get his birth certificate from the GRO.  I'll have a look and get back to you asap.

Hello Ticker, yes that is the family,thank you,they moved from Yorkshire to County Durham, where I live now.I'm hoping to find Richard's parents,I've no idea where they came from but as he was born in Warlaby I thought it a good idea to start there.
