John Lamb(e)
« on: Tuesday 14 February 12 21:54 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find more information concerning a John Lamb born, according to the 1841 census, in Newbold Pacey (Ashorne) in 1801. I have him as being buried in 1856 BMD. There seems to be quite a number of the family living both in N-P and the local area around the early 1800's. Can anyone help? It would be greatly appreciated.

Warwickshire I think. With wife Hannah and children Jane and Charles.  He appears again on the 1851 Census but his birthplace is given there as being Northamptonshire.

IGI has this Extracted Marriage;
John LAMB/Hannah WEARING, 03 March 1836, Kineton, Warwickshire

Trees have her as Hannah Broadwater but I think the above is the correct Marriage.

1851 John Lamb is born c 1800, Chabbonre, Northamptonshire.
I can find nothing for him for a Christening in Northants.
Others may!

I am going to throw this one into the mix;
John LAMB, 08 March 1800, Sherbourne, Dorset
Parents CHARLES/SARAH
(Source Familysearch.Org)
Dorset borders Warwickshire. Also Father is a Charles. Chabboonre could be mistaken for Sherbourne also.

John and Hannah Christened in Pillerton Priors, Warwickshire;
THOMAS 01 January 1837
WALTER 15 October 1838 (Burial 17 Nov 1839)
Then in Newbold Pacey, Warwickshire;
CHARLES 27 December 1840
EMMA 06 April 1845 (Burial 11 Aug 1849, Age 4)

All on Familysearch.Org (I was looking to find all Children to get a hint at John/Hannahs Parents 1st names)

Trish :)

EDIT JANE was Christened Kineton, 19 March 1837 so maybe Thomas was not theirs and there are 2 John/Hannah combos have Children in the area c 1837-1845.

Dorset borders Warwickshire.

What?!?!  I don't think so!

Travelling north from Dorset, you have to travel through Wiltshire and either Gloucestershire or Oxfordshire to reach Warwickshire!
Dorset shares boundaries with Devon, Somerset, Wiltshire and Hampshire?!

To save face here is the solution to the Hannah Broadwater/Wearing confusion on Family Trees;

1841 Census in Pillerton Priors we have;
John LAMB, 40, Ag Lab
Maria,9
George, 7

Maria was Christened 16 August 1831, Wasperton, Warwick to JOHN/HANNAH and George 09 March 1834
John LAMB Married Hannah BROADWAY, 12 May 1831, Wasperton, Warwick
So the Wasperton/Pillerton Priors Christenings are likely to this John/Hannah;
Maria 1831
George 1834
Thomas 1837
Walter 1838

Then the other John LAMB/Hannah WEARING Marry 1836
Children;
Jane 1837
Charles 1840
Emma 1845
(the other John is Widowed by 1841)

What a great bunch you are.  I should have mentioned that Newbold Pacey was in Warks. I am aware that there were two John Lamb's in that area of Warwickshire, and both married a Hannah (Wearing & Broadway) it's the Broadway couple that I'm interested in Though I guess the other couple would be related somewhere down the line. I will look at the Northants link see how far away that place is. I work on the assumption that folks in those days didn't travel far from their place of birth.
Many thanks to you all.
