Deaths

MAry Grubshaw Jan/Feb/Mar 1896
age 60
Edmonton 3a 219

William Grubshaw Oct/Nov/Dec 1900
aged 64
Edmonton 3a 247

So we have found out a lot about them, but not who his parents were! But still a possibility for a child of your Great Waltham Grubshaws, I think.

Thank you very much Sue

That info makes sense of the Bpt entry I found on familysearch Charles Grubshaw 1808, also makes him a wd when he marries Charlotte in 1841 & almost certainly explains why Sophia & William are with the Poultons in 1841 in Gt Waltham.

A Charles Trubshaw died in 1841 Dunmow Dist - Dunmow is just up the road from Gt Waltham so a possibility but I still cannot trace Charlotte under the name Grubshaw/Trubshaw, remarried or otherwise by 1851.  She looks like being one of those unsolved mysteries.

Thank you all very much for your input
Keziah

If by chance they are in the Dunmow district in 1851, sadly this area is missing from the census. :'(

Thanks for that Sue - just found Sophia GRABAUGH living Chelmsford Union Workhouse 1851 born Gt Waltham c1828 so likely daughter of Charles & Hannah.

A pressing engagement with the cooker now so I shall resume my search asap - perhaps its all in the spelling or should that be the transcription - the original looks more like Trubshaw & below her there's Hannah Trubshaw 6 born in the WH!

Many thanks
K

Just to add that Charles Trubshaw/Grubshaw was found guilty of stealing oats and for perjury as a witness and received 10 months hard labour and 2 months solitary in May 1832.
Just before Hannah buried baby Sarah 1st June.

Charles and Hannah also had Sophia 1828 and William 1830.

SOPHIA had several babies before she settled down to hubby charles Nokes 1869 -
twins 1843 Ann Sophia skingley and John william Skingley (d 1844 -guessing father may be called John Skingley!)
Caroline 1849-1851
Emily 1852-1855
Amelia 1856-1857
William 1859-1860
only Rosa 1857 and youngest sister Ann survived.

William married Mary Ann Wells in 1853.

plus you have charles's 2nd marriage to charlotte at Bethnal Green 1841. There is a registration for a charles death 1850 Bethnal Green. Their daughter Mary Ann 1849 married James Moore 1869 Bethnal Green. Charles is recorded as deceased.

ps charles had previously married Hannah Gibson/Gipson not Osborne!
