Hi weste,

Must agree with you, beginning to wonder if there was a marriage.

However, I have noticed on previous occasions where the mother's maiden name is included in the married name.

Help
I have two separate posts for the same topic :-[ :-[

Just discovered the other one listed in Durham Counties General.

When that thread was started I did not realise you could continue from a previous one. Know it sounds stupid but I couldn't remember where it was!!! :-[

Please accept that I did not want to cause unnecessary duplication of searches.

I appreciate the interest given so far and would appreciate future help with this thread.

Problem now is How do I merge the two separate posts??
As you can see I am still learning.

here is the other one - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,594634.10.html

Will ask the Durham moderator's advice.

I don't think we can deduce much from the two names on the baptism.
The couple may have married in Ireland  or may not have married at all. There doesn't seem to be one on Free BMD.
Neither does Francis seem to show in censuses until he is married.
There are several Markey (with variations) in Durham so perhaps all connected somehow.
It is a mystery!

Does he definitely give Michael as his father when he marries?

Hi,
These threads are too long to merge now.  I will lock the Durham one and give a link to this one.

hi heywood,

agreed, there is a family tree on ancestry but there are too many discrepancies to feel confident that they are ours.

It seems their whole family came but there are also Markeys in the South Shields area much earlier.

Michael is stated as his father (deceased) on the marriage cert.
We queried that until we found the baptismal record with Michaelus as father.

I'm confusing myself here! Do I mean the marriage certificate?

Have you got the godparents from Francis baptism details?
(I recall you saying you didn't have them and would look for them at the records centre but not sure if you found them  ::)- sorry!)
