WOW!!!!! You lot are good.... that is more information than I could have hoped for and so quick.... thank you so much.  It has given me the incentive to go back further on the Boult side... Are there any good websites i should use?

The main free ones that a lot of us use are:

Freebmd:    http://www.freebmd.org.uk

FamilySearch:  http://www.familysearch.org

Freereg: http://www.freereg.org.uk/

Freecen: http://www.freecen.org.uk/

There are also the subscription sites, such as Ancestry and Find My Past. These often offer a couple of weeks free trial so you can decide which one suits you best.

There are also the wonderful people on here of course - there is always someone willing to help or offer advice.

wow...wow...wow... i have just found a census record 1881 where there is a  reference   for GEORGE BOULT born 1852... he lived in the same area as the GEORGE RICHARD BOULT born 1855 and had the same job... i think its safe to say its the same person.. this links up with george bould aged 9... right area.. father Joseph has the right job .... my family name might be Bould not Boult...wow... i am very very new to genealogy... is this likely? or a coincidence?... as its a big step for me....

Hi

Is the 1881  RG11/707/10/14  where George born Wolverhampton 1852 is a boarder in 16, Leslie Terrace, Victoria Road, Deptford? I think this is the correct one as it is the same area as his marriage.

The name is Boult, not Bould. The entry for the 1861 census that bevj found looks like the right family. You have to remember that often the writing on the actual census is not very clear. When it is transcribed, the person who is doing the transcribing has to write down what it says, not what they think it says, so you often get strange spellings, especially for place names. When you are looking for people you often have to try alternative spellings. Other censuses and the marriage give it as Boult.

I cant see a birth registration for him, he may not have been registered. Although registration came into being in 1837, it wasn't until much later that people were fined for not registering births.

Hi All

The nearest birth I can find is

George Bould
Apr Qtr 1850
Reg Wolverhampton
Staffordshire
Vol 17
Page 400

If this is him he should show on the 1851 census with Joseph and Jane, on other census he is also know as George Richard
