Hi
Have you read the 50 pages on ancestry?
He served initially in Royal Warwickshire Regiment and then transferred to 5th Battalion Rifle Brigade until 1917 when he was arrested and did a spell in jail
He was wounded and gassed also.
Interesting read.I would get the War Diary for the 5th Batt Rifle Brigade from 1916-1917 arrest date that will tell you where he was and what they were doing but dont expect him to be named
After release from jail he was with 1st Batt Royal Warwicks til discharge
Maybe online available to download from Kew.

Hi
Yes no doubt a bit of a  bad lad...He deserted twice....one of the times he gave his escort the slip! Was sentenced to Hard labour for shopbreaking BUT he did serve on the frontline and was injured he served overseas with 1st Battalion Rifle Brigade.
Its a "good" record to read through to understand any procedure on desertion/awol

Theres two sets of records for him the 50 pages and a 7 page one.
On the 7 page one its gives that he suffered a gunshot wound to lower arm in July 1916 and was gassed in March 1918
