Library & Archives Canada - Help please
« on: Monday 20 February 12 15:33 GMT (UK) »
Many Canadian researchers & those of you who have had folks come this way across the pond use the Library & Archives Canada. It is one of the VERY, VERY FEW centralized databases that exist in Canada. Check out this website & then make your voice heard to help us to maintain this important resource.

Take Action to Save Library & Archives Canada

In a nutshell, here's what we're facing.

- Modernization is limiting LAC's mandate to maintian & make publically available a comprehensive collection of historical records.
- LAC is no longer acquiring a comprehensive collection of historical materials.
- The quality & quantity of services is eroding.
- Decentralization though out-sourcing means we are losing a unified collection.

Many of you know how challenging it is to research in Canada today. Please help us, at minimum, maintain the status quo.

Thanks
