Nothing so far on the deaths for Elizabeth.

Very odd  :-\

I think that this might well be William's death - informant was a son Andrew Christie- on the 1871, aged 9

Orchardtoun, Sorbie 7 April 1897
William Christie, ag lab, aged 71 (married to Elizabeth Williamson  ???)
Parents - William Christie, ag lab and Elizabeth m.s. Kerr. Both deceased

Andrew's birth on the IGI (extracted from Stat Records)

Whithorn 19 April 1862 Andrew Christie - s/o William Christie and Elizabeth Cook

So did William remarry or did Andrew get his mother's surname wrong  :-\

Marriage of Agnes's sister , Catherine, to James Cairns in 1874.  Her parents are given as William Christie, shepherd, and Elizabeth m.s. Cook.  Elizabeth and John Christie were witnesses.

Hi again  :)

The only William Christ* of the approx age in Wigtownshire on the 1841 is in Mochrum - a mixed bunch

Village, Mochrum
William Leitch, 75, shoemaker
William Lindsay, 70
William Christen, 18
Jane Dinnel, 60
Jane Shillen, 20
Janet Martin, 12
Robert Broadshaw, 25
All b. Wigtownshire

In the same house but a separate household  is a family of Hartley. Head of Household is a William Hartley, 40. Merchant, b. County

Note that Elizabeth's mother was Sarah, m.s. Hartley - no Sarah's in taht household though so it could be purely coincidence.

Just to complete the census info:

1891

Orchardton Cottage, Sorbie
William Christie, 68, shepherd, b. Sorbie
Eliza, w, 67, b. Mochrum
Andrew, s, unm, 28, farm servant, b. Whithorn
Eliza Cairns, grdd, 16, day worker on farm, b. Sorbie
Mary Cairns, grdd, 13, b. Wigtown
James, grds, 8, b. -do-

1901

Orcharton Farm Cottage, Sorbie
Andrew Christie, 35, shepherd, b. Whithorn
Jeanie, w, 31, b. Wigtown

Elizabeth, mother, 76, b. Mochrum

So was Elizabeth born Ireland or Mochrum? Was her  maiden name Williamson, Mcclung or Cook   :-\

On Andrew's marraige cert of 1899, Wigtown,  to Jeanie Hannah, his mother is given as Elizabeth m.s Williamson

I'm now puzzled - she's down as Cook on his birth record and on the daughters' marriage certs, yet Andrew maintains that she's a Williamson  :-\
