Goulds in North and Middle Littleton
« on: Monday 20 February 12 22:25 GMT (UK) »
According to the IGI, there were four sons christened at North and Middle Littleton, Worcestershire, with parents James and Sarah Gould:

Joseph, christened 12 Sept 1790
William, christened 21 July 1793
Samuel, christened 5 May 1799
Nathan, christened 2 Sept 1804

I didn't know about Joseph and William, but did know about Nathan (because Samuel's own son, also called Nathan, is living with his uncle Nathan on a later census).

There's a marriage between a James Gould and Sarah Knight on IGI, but it's a submitted record, giving the marriage date as 11 July 1781 in North and Middle Littleton, and there's a baptism of a Sarah Knight (d/o Thomas and Sarah Knight) on 5 Jan 1761 (same parish) which would make her about 20 when she married which sounds about right.  But if she was 20 when she got married, they were married for nine years before baby Joseph arrived, and then they had two other sons before finally having Nathan in 1804, by which time Sarah would have been 43!

For Joseph the IGI has three possibles from North and Middle Littleton:
1 - b. 1744, son of John and Mary
2 - b. 1755, submitted by the same person who submitted the marriage to Sarah Knight, saying that this James is Sarah's husband
3 - b. 1769, son of James and Elizabeth

So, I wondered if anyone could find me a marriage closer to the birth of Joseph and/or a birth of a suitably aged James and Sarah?

Hope this makes sense!

Hi STG,
There is a Sarah GOULD buried at St Nicholas, North & Middle Littleton on 17th August 1834, aged 74. This would have made her birth year 1760 which bears out the fact that she seems to have had her first child aged 30.

Oh, that's interesting.

There's nothing on the IGI as a possible death for James, so I'm still a bit stuck with him.

Thanks

I'm sure there is, but I'm not really near enough to check it out, which is why I was hoping someone had the PRs on a CD and could do me a look-up/some look-ups.

I have a John Gould (1775-1842) from North Littleton married to Elizabeth Bridgewater (1782-c1860). They had six children, all born in North Littleton- Martha, Deborah, William, Celia, Elisha and Henry.

Elizabeth Bridgewater was a sister of my 3 x great grandmother Ann Bridgewater.

Cheers,
Chris
